iPad Power Converter

Many pilots using iPads or tablets with preferred navigation apps for cross-country flights face issues with battery life. Standard power supply chargers fail to simultaneously charge the device's internal battery and power the device. Commercially available chargers typically deliver a maximum of 2.5 amps, but maintaining device operation requires between 3.0 and 5.0 amps. Furthermore, numerous off-the-shelf chargers emit random noise that interferes with VHF radio signals, which is problematic.

The device supports input ranging from 12 to 24 Volts of aircraft power through the included fused, curly coiled adapter cable.
This completed unit is encased in a shielded metal housing. The input for the 12-volt direct current from the cigarette lighter cable is located on this side.
On this side, there are two USB ports, each capable of 5 volts regulated at 3.0 Amps. The unit can continuously output 3 amps and support a maximum burst of 5.0 amps from each port.
