The best place to install a navigation tablet is to your left on the side panel below the windshield as shown below. The gimballed accessories that come with the tablets are too large to allow it to fit snuggley.
This setup consists of an aircraft aluminium plate fastened to the side panel. Then there are 4 washers and a wedge set at 25°. The 4 washers fit between your tablet' mounting plate which is removed from the gimballed set, and then the large wedge fits in the back. The large wedge is used to allow the screws that hold everything together to be at 90° to the washers, and provide a firm surface for the mounting plate to prevent wobble in flight.
You can put the large wedge next to the tablets mounting plate, but usually the surface isn't flat enough.
